Addison Rae Revisits Rodarte’s Van Gogh Collection for Grammy Event

Addison Rae turned to Rodarte‘s Vincent Van Gogh-inspired early 2010s collection for her attire to the Grammy Museum L.A. Live event on Thursday in Los Angeles.

For the event, at which Rae also performed, the singer styled a dress from the American clothing and accessories brand’s spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. The dress featured an off-the-shoulder style with a wrap element at the neckline.

The dress included elements of emphasized hips and a skirt that flowed to the knee hemline. The bodice of the dress was fitted. Throughout the design, a motif inspired by painter Vincent Van Gogh’s sunflowers featured prominently.

Rae coordinated the ornately structured dress with a pair of neutral pumps. Her golden blond hair was styled with beach waves and her makeup featured such elements as bold brows and a muted pink lip for an added pop of color.

Rae’s look for the Grammy Museum L.A. Live event made its runway debut as part of New York Fashion Week in September 2011. The entire collection was inspired by the post-impressionist painter, featuring bursts of color and delicate construction throughout, curated by Rodarte founders Kate and Laura Mulleavy.

“This collection bore evidence of a desire to be more commercial while protecting the artistry at the core of their work,” WWD’s review of the collection read. “If the designers felt the strain of compromise, it resulted in a beautiful thing.”

Highlights from Rodarte’s spring 2012 collection included “a short, structured cocktail frock with a dropped waist and folded circle skirt, or an ethereal gown of iridescent sea foam tulle lavished with silk sunflower embroidery,” WWD’s review read, seemingly referencing the exact dress worn by Rae on Thursday. “Similar silhouettes came in more painterly prints from the artist’s starry night.”
