Ever wanted to be a fly on the wall at a NYFW party? Or wondered how street style trends take off? With On the Grid, InStyle documents the best-dressed crowds at runway shows, sold-out concerts, and beyond. Consider this your style scene report.
Interlocking Cs, tweed-maxing, and ropes of pearls, Chanel design codes are some of the most famous in fashion history—and unmistakable when spotted on the streets of Paris.
At the brand’s latest show on March 11th at the Grand Palais, attendees showed up in their Coco finest, honoring the very best in ladylike dressing. There were box jackets galore (in shades of black, cream, and rose), enough brooches to inspire a whole new Pinterest board, and cap-toe pumps in every shape and size imaginable. It was, in short, almost as exciting to watch the crowd of show-goers as it was to take in models on the catwalk.

Chanel FW25 reimagined these same brand hallmarks through a dreamlike lens. Tulle overcoats with puffed sleeves layered ghostlike over classic suiting. Sheer sleeves and pantlegs gave jacquard shorts and blouses a romantic quality. The jewelry was extravagantly oversized—check out that massive rope of pearls in Look 44—and bags were dramatic in scale. Charms, bows, and ruffles lent a bold feminine charm to the entire assortment, adorning purses, collars, and even shoes.
The show, the last designed by the brand’s atelier before Matthieu Blazy takes the helm as creative lead next season, was a girlish assault on the senses (complimentary), growing more staunchly coquettish with each look. I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear a giant C-emblazoned pearl as a heel? The answer, as Chanel puts it emphatically, is no one.
This ethos is exactly why the French couture house’s Paris fashion show is a street style hub: It’s all in the details. Season after season, the fashion world comes together to marvel at resplendent boucle, covet demure handbags in pink plaid, and gaze upon the latest and greatest skirt set—and not just on the runway.
Ahead, feast your eyes on the street style outside Chanel’s latest Paris Fashion Week showing. Read on for InStyle’s On the Grid.
