Kai Schreiber has been prepping her modeling career for years — with help from her famous mom Naomi Watts.
The 16-year-old daughter of Watts and Liev Schreiber landed an interview and photo shoot with Interview magazine, spilling on everything from her role models to her personal style and more.
When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, Kai said, “I want to be a supermodel. Period.”
The young star added, “I’ve been practicing my walks in the kitchen for years; my mom can show you all the videos I forced her to film.”
Kai made her runway debut in March during Paris Fashion Week, hitting the catwalk for Valentino in a leopard-printed minidress, feather collar and lace swim cap.
She later starred in an ad campaign for the Italian fashion brand — marking her first-ever fashion gig — that had Watts declare she was “beaming with pride.”
Dad Liev was super supportive too, slamming haters that called Kai a “nepo baby.”
“I’m going to put it to you like this: What if you were a professional actor, and your child decided they wanted to do something in this world?” he said before asking rhetorically, “Do they have a choice of what you did?”
“Struggling with gender identity from a young age most likely had something to do with it. I always wanted to grow up and be a beautiful, glamorous, influential woman, like Marilyn,” Kai told Interview mag.
And Marilyn Monroe isn’t her only icon. When asked who she looks up to, the teen answered, “As a young trans girl, I’m always going to look up to the older generation of transgender people, especially in fashion”
She name-dropped supermodel Alex Consani, “Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer and actress Hari Nef as well as Dara, Richie Shazam, Colin Jones and more.
“It’s so great that there’s a strong community of us in the fashion world; it’s really a doll takeover,” she said. “It’s important to all of us to have a sense of community, especially when we’re under such hostile attack.”
When asked about her own personal style, Kai errs on the side of casual.
“Most days I’m basic, but in a chic way, if that makes sense. I love my low-rise jeans and black cardigan. That’s my go-to outfit,” she said.
“I love when people have their own personal style; it makes the world more fun. If you’re presenting yourself in a unique, cool way, people are immediately drawn in and want to know more,” Kai added. “If every person was walking around in the same outfit, fashion wouldn’t be a thing.”
